Nepali Congress President Deuba terms govt unsuccessful



KATHMANDU: President of the major opposition, Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has observed that the performance of the government functioning on two-thirds majority proved that it was unsuccessful.

On the concluding day of the fourth session of the federal parliament on Thursday, NC President Deuba said the government was misusing authority instead of serving the people and country.

“Undemocratic bills have the role behind growing despair among people. Against the principle of separation of power and spirit of the constitution, the government is interfering the judiciary and human rights commission,” he accused.

The government activities in terms of development and good governance were snail-paced, and the corruption cases rising, he added.

He made it elaborate that the efforts to suppress citizen’s fundamental rights, harassing and sacking journalists and employees based on political faith were worrying.

The former Prime Minister blamed the government that it was feeble to implement constitution ensuring its acceptability, maintain a balanced foreign policy, boost peace and security situation. He further accused the ruling party cadres of attacking NC Banke President Kiran Koirala.
