District admin declares Bharatpur a ‘prohibited zone’

BHARATPUR: District Administration Office, Chitwan has prohibited all sorts of demonstration in Bharatpur to avert untoward incidences.

Bharatpur was declared a prohibited zone after two different groups – supporters of television presenter Rabi Lamichhane and supporters of deceased journalist Salikram Pudasaini — organized separate demonstrations in Bharatpur today as well.

Bharatpur has become tensed after Lamichhane was arrested in Kathmandu and brought to Chitwan on August 15 in connection with a suicide case of Pudasaini, who ‘committed’ suicide in a hotel in Chitwan a fortnight ago.

Security in Bharatpur areas has been beefed up following continuous demonstrations in support of Lamichhane demanding his immediate release, and demonstrations demanding free and fair probe into the case.
