More minor girls drowned than boys in Mahottari



MAHOTTARI: As many as  18 minors have drowned in Mahottari district in the fiscal year 2018/19. According to District Police Office, Mahottari, those drowned children are aged between 10 months to 12 years.

In the last fiscal year, a total of 27 people died due to landslides and floods. Out of seven minors losing their  lives in the floods, four are below 12 years of age, two are 13 to 14 years old and one is 70 years old.

A total of 12 minors have drowned in ponds in the last fiscal year. Of them, two minor girls drowned in a water-filled ditch in front of their houses while two lost their lives by drowning in water-filled buckets in the house.

Some have died after they fell into the pond while taking a bath.
