‘Corruption-accused Ram Bahadur commits suicide’



KATHMANDU: Ram Bahadur Pandey Chhetri, who had been facing corruption charges in the recruitment of staffers at Tribhuvan University, has committed suicide. He killed himself by jumping off the sixth floor of Radha Bhawan based in Tripureshwor. Pandey Chhetri was a former staffer of Controller of Examination, TU, Balkhu.

Police said they found Pandey Chhetri dead on the premises of Radha Bhawan in Tripureshwor on Thursday afternoon. Police had suspected him to have jumped off the lawyer’s office where he had gone to meet his lawyer.

Police are investigating the case, said SSP Uttamraj Subedi, chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan Range Office.

On July 3, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had arrested 10 officials of the Office of the Controller of Examinations, TU, Balkhu on the charge of tampering the score of the candidates to recruit their relatives.
