Parliamentary Committee discusses Forest Bill

KATHMANDU: The parliamentary Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee held discussions with experts on ‘Forest Bill-2075 BS’.

Committee President Purna Kumari Subedi said the committee had invited experts for discussions to take their views on the matter. According to her, issues missing from the document would be incorporated following discussions with the experts.

Naya Sharma Poudel, forest expert, suggested that the bill focused on making local-level more responsible saying that the conservation of forests would be much easier if local people were given the rights in the conservation efforts.

Expert Uday Sharma suggested for revising the bill as several issues had been left out. He said that issues related to conservation of wildlife and forest products as well as the formation of Tree Transplantation Authority have been missed in the document.
