Korean Air says it will buy 20 Boeing 787s

SEOUL: Korean Air Lines Co Ltd has said it will add 30 Boeing Co Dreamliner passenger jets to its fleet, media reports have said.

South Korea’s biggest carrier, Korean Air Lines Co Ltd, in a regulatory filing on Wednesday said it will buy an additional 20 Boeing 787-10s and also lease 10 Boeing 787-9s.

Korean Air Chairman Walter Cho has been quoted as saying that the 787 Dreamliner family will serve as a backbone of the mid-and long-haul fleet for several years to come.

According to reports, the 787 planes are said to replace the carrier’s existing aircraft such as its B47s, B777s, and A330s. (Agencies)
