Encephalitis deaths in India: Toll rises to 111



PATNA: The Indian state of Bihar is reeling under the tragedy of children’s deaths due to encephalitis from the last several days. The death toll has risen to 111 in Muzaffarpur of the state, Indian media reports have said.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who visited Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur on Tuesday had faced protests from the relatives of patients. The department of health has yet to ascertain the exact cause of the deaths, reports have said. Most of the children who have been affected by the disease are under the age group of 1-10. (Agencies)
