U.S., Chinese teams can restart trade talks, says Trump

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has said he spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping and that they agreed to restart trade talks in order to prepare for a meeting at the G20 summit to be held in Japan later this month.

China and the United States are engaged in a trade war, which has pressured financial markets and even damaging the world economy. Dialogue between the two sides broke down in May.

Trump has said he would very much like to meet with the Chinese President at the Group of 20 meeting next week. (Agencies)
