PM Oli inaugurates Upper Trishuli III ‘A’ Hydropower Project



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli on Monday inaugurated the 60-megawatt Upper Trishuli III ‘A’ Hydropower Project by switching on the power transmission from the PM’s Office in Kathmandu.

Likewise, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsha Man Pun inaugurated the project at the project site in Simle, Kispang rural municipality-5 of Nuwakot on Monday.

The Upper Trishuli III ‘A’ Hydropower Project had begun its test transmission in the first phase on May 17. Similarly, the second phase began on August 2 this year.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the Upper Trishuli III ‘A’ Hydropower Project can produce 1.44 million unit electricity every day.

The project is also expected to support in balancing the power transmission system of Kathmandu Valley.

NEA said the Upper Trishuli III ‘A’ Hydropower Project will contribute eight percent power to the country’s total energy consumption.
