Minister Bista pledges implementation of minimum wages, social security



LALITPUR: Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security, Gokarna Bista on Wednesday assured that workers in all sectors would be entitled minimum wages and social security.

Speaking at a program in Lalitpur today, Minister Bista said that the government would ensure social security and minimum wages for teachers and employees of the community as well as private schools.

Minister Bista said, “The government is aware that a significant number of teachers and employees have no access to fair wages and social security.”

He assured of addressing the issue, which he claimed, was currently under discussion in the Council of Ministers.

The minister said a number of teachers and employees of community schools have also been deprived of minimum wages and pledged to effectively enforce the Labor Act and contribution-based Social Security Act provisions.

He also highlighted the need for improving the quality of education to meet the Sustainable Development Goals, which he claimed would play an important role in the country’s overall development.
