India polls: Around 61.12 percent voter turnout for second phase



NEW DELHI: The polling in Phase 2 of India’s Lok Sabha elections 2019 witnessed an increase in the number of voters turning up at booths to exercise their voting rights, Indian media reported.

West Bengal clocked 65.43 per cent votes until 3:30 pm, despite sporadic incidents of violence, reports said.

Maharashtra polled 46.63 per cent votes, while in Tamil Nadu, 52.02 per cent voter turnout was recorded.

On Thursday, voting took place across 95 parliamentary seats spread over 11 states and one Union Territory.

Voting also took place for 18 Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu, and for 35 Assembly seats in Odisha. (Agencies)
