ICC Asia U-19 WC: Nepal beats Kuwait by 8 wickets



KATHMANDU: Nepal has clinched an eight-wicket win against Kuwait in the final match of the ICC Asia U-19 World Cricket Qualifier held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday.

Nepal reached the target of 158 runs set by Kuwait in 28 overs, losing two wickets.

Nepal’s openers Rit Gautam and Pawan Sarraf shared a 93-run partnership. Both of them completed a half-century.

Sarraf made 53 runs including eight fours and one six off 61 balls while Rit scored 84 runs including seven fours off 62 balls.

Aasif Sheikh contributed 31 runs including five fours and one six off 20 balls and remained not out while Sandeep Jora collected five runs off three balls.

Abdul Sadiq and  Hamoud Amanullah grabbed one wicket each of Nepal.

Likewise, Nepal’s Rohit Paudel took three wickets of Kuwait to restrict it to 157 runs. Kushal Malla, Surya Tamang, Rashid Khan took two wickets each.

Despite securing win in the final match, Nepal ended its journey to the ICC U-19 World Cup after it faced a defeat at the hand of Oman.

UAE has clinched a berth in the ICC World Cup by defeating Oman by 10 wickets.

A team among the six teams securing the highest points can play ICC World Cup according to the rules.
