AFC U-16 C’ship: Nepal draws with Kuwait 1-1

KATHMANDU: Nepal has drawn with Kuwait 1-1 in the AFC U-16 Championship underway in Jordan.

Held at the Prince Mohammed  International Stadium in Zarqa City on Monday, Nepal drew 1-1 with Kuwait.  Dipesh Rai secured a goal for Nepal at the 74th minute.

Kuwaiti player Abdulwahab Alhindi leveled the score through penalty in the injury time. With the draw, Nepal, which is placed in ‘Group A’, has notched up one point.

Earlier, in the first match, Nepal lost to host team Jordan 0-7. Kuwait has collected three points from two games.
A total  of 48 countries are participating in the tournament and have been placed under 11 groups. Group winners and four first runner-ups will qualify for the AFC Championship to be held in 2020.
