16 Nepali girls rescued from Kenya and Malawi



KATHMANDU: Sixteen Nepali girls, who had been trafficked to African countries, with the lure of lucrative foreign employment have been rescued from Kenya and Malawi, a report in Naya Patrika said.

According to the report, 12 Nepalis have been rescued from Kenya while four have been rescued from Malawi.

The rescued girls are now in a safe house and preparations are underway to bring them back to Nepal with the help of Interpol, said SSP Umesh Raj Joshi.

Human traffickers in cahoots with manpower supply agencies have been taking trafficking Nepali women to various countries in Africa. Earlier, local police had rescued a lot of Nepali girls from Uganda and Kenya.
