Thapaliya unanimously endorsed for CEC

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PSHC) on Wednesday unanimously endorsed the name of Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya for the vacant post of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).

The hearing committee unanimously endorsed his name after hearing his answers on six complaints lodged against him.

According to the constitutional provision, the President will appoint the CEC following the endorsement by the PHSC. A meeting of Constitutional Council held on March 25 had recommended Thapaliya to the post at the constitutional body.

Likewise, the committee unanimously approved the name of Bishnu Maya Ojha as the member of Inclusive Commission.
