Apple, Google remove TikTok in India

NEW DELHI: Apple and Google have removed TikTok from their app stores in India, Indian media reported.

The move was made following a ruling by the Madras High Court, which ordered its removal from app stores saying that the apps were being used to spread pornography.

TikTok, which is hugely popular with teenagers, has more than 120 million users in India, according to reports.

The app allows people to post short videos of themselves lip-syncing and dancing to the songs, performing short comedy skits, among others.

TikTok has already banned in Bangladesh.

According to the company, it has around 500 million monthly active users around the world. (Agencies)
