Former Maoists faction suggests Dahal not to bow down before ex-UMLs

KATHMANDU: A meeting of former UCPN (Maoist) leaders was held at the residence of Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Monday.

The leaders had reached there this morning with a proposal that the former Maoists should form a common voice during the ongoing Standing Committee meeting of the party.

They suggested Dahal not to bow down before the former CPN (UML) leaders. Leaders Ram Bahadur Thapa,  Haribol Gajurel, Narayankaji Shrestha and Dev Gurung among other leaders were present at the meeting.

They further suggested Dahal that they should take a stance that only directly-elected lawmakers and those in Standing Committee should be eligible for Speaker.

If the Standing Committee passes the proposal, doors will be closed for Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe who is in the race to become the next speaker.
