Procedures for Business Visa in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Nepal has a chunk of business opportunities in terms of its tourism, handicrafts, handloom, herbal products, and many other industries that provide huge scope for investment.

Nepal Government provides a Business visa for investors and businessmen/women investing and undertaking business in Nepal. Visa is issued by the Department of Immigration upon receipt of the following documents from the applicant.

The Government of Nepal grants a Business Visa to:

  • Foreigners having a license to make an investment in Nepali business or industrial enterprise
  • Foreigners having a license to invest for carrying out export trade in Nepal
  • Foreigners from third countries who export goods manufactured from Nepal by purchasing or placing a purchase order for export

Then you’ll have to apply for a Business Visa. When applying for a business visa, applicants have to produce the following documents to the Department of Immigration:

  • Online Application
  • Recommendation letter from the Department of Industry or concerned line agency of Government
  • Bio Data  ( for first-time applicants)
  • Foreign Investment Acceptance letter from the Department of Industry
  • Copy of Company Registration Certificate
  • Copy of PAN/VAT certificate
  • Copy of Share certificate
  • Copy of Industry Registration Certificate
  • Copy of Passport and latest visa
  • Latest tax clearance (regular visa)
  • Industry Monitoring and Supervision report
  • Progress report of company or industry (for renewal)

Unlike other Non-Tourist Visa, a Business visa is issued for at least a  month up to 1 year / for whole five years at a time.

Business Visa Fee

Business Visa Processing fee varies with the amount of investment made.

  • An investor investing less than 10 million (NRS) – USD 35/month, USD400/year, USD 1000 for five years
  • An Investor Investing more than 10 million (NRS) – USD 20/month, USD200/year, USD 500 for five years
  • An Investor Investing more than 100 million (NRS) – No Charges

If Business Visa applicant has made the investment of more than 10 million (NRS), ‘Share Details’ is mandatory along with other necessary documents for visa processing. Business Visa regardless of time period entails multiple Re-entry facilities.
