KATHMANDU: Disgruntled faction led by senior leader of the Nepali Congress Ram Chandra Paudel has decided to boycott the Central Working Committee meeting of the party even today.

According to sources, Paudel-led faction has called a meeting at 3 pm today.

Central leaders including Bimalendra Nidhi, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Prakash Man Singh, Hridaya Ram Thani held talks to narrow down differences at the Chaksibari-based residence of former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh this morning.

“Talks held between the two factions this morning could not strike a deal,” said a leader close to Paudel faction adding, “We won’t participate in the CWC meeting unless both the sides reach a certain conclusion.”

The one-hour talks held this morning basically focused on narrowing down the differences especially on the national convention, in which the Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction has been rigid in its stance on postponing the date of the convention.

While the Deuba-led faction has been insisting on postponing the convention to the third week of November next year, the Poudel-faction has been pressurizing the party establishment to hold the convention by mid-February next year.

Paudel-led faction has been boycotting the Nepali Congress CWC meeting since last Thursday.
