Sharad Vesawkar shines as Nepal beats Hong Kong by 40 runs



KATHMANDU: Nepal registered its first win the ongoing ACC Emerging Asia Cup Cricket on Saturday defeating Hong Kong by 40 runs, thanks to a brilliant inning by Sharad Vesawkar.

At the match played at Dhaka, Bangladesh, Hong Kong lost all wickets in 45.5 overs while chasing the 218-run target set by Nepal. For Hong Kong, Kinchit Shah made 53 runs and Ehsan Khan contributed not out 44 runs.

Nepal’s Karan KC and Avinash Bohara grabbed three wickets each as Sushan Bhari sent two batsmen back to the pavilion.

Earlier invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal posted 217 runs on the board losing all wickets in the stipulated 50 overs as Sharad Vesawkar contributed 89 runs hitting nine fours. Aarif Sheikh made 42 runs as Dipendra Singh Airee contributed 37 runs for the team.

Aizaz Khan of Hong Kong grabbed three wickets.
