CHARIKOT: The Gaikhura Mahadev Temple based in Melung Rural Municipality-2, Sukathokar in Dolakha has seen a rise in the number of visitors with the operation of accessible transport service.
Scores of devotees thronging to the temple have witnessed an upward trend after the expansion of road access leading to the temple area, shared Shivahari Pandit, priest of the temple.
The task of road up-gradation is continuing to make easier access to the temple, which is being developed as a tourism destination. The temple is believed to have three powers and five incarnations and is replete with natural beauty. Local people have been involved in the conservation and renovation of the temple for long back.
The rural municipality has allocated a budget Rs 3 million for the construction of a wall around the temple. Nar Bahadur Shrestha, the chairperson of the rural municipality, said the temple has been in shade due to lack of publicity and physical infrastructures.
Even devotees from India are also seen visiting the temple for prayers, priest Pandit informed.
