Florida man gets life term for killing neighbor over noise

NEW PORT RICHEY: A Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting his neighbor.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that 62-year-old Qiu Ke was sentenced after Pasco County jurors convicted him of first-degree murder.

Qiu testified that he killed 37-year-old Edward Tudor after years of torment in their Holiday neighborhood. Qiu said he set up a tent around his bed and ran white noise machines in his room to drown out the sounds made by Tudor.

Defense attorneys tried to convince the jury that Qiu should be convicted of a lesser charge, like manslaughter. They argued that the killing was not premeditated.
