International Day of Yoga in the lap of Mt. Everest

KATHMANDU: The Embassy of India in Kathmandu organized a Yoga Event at Namche Bazaar, the gateway of Mount Everest with an aim to highlight the importance of yoga in daily life.

According to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, members from various youth and women groups of Solukhumbu, including the Khumjung and Khunde Drinking Water Management Committee and various youth groups, officers of Sagarmatha National Park (SNP), and a significant number of locals enthusiastically participated in the yoga event.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri and embassy officers also participated in the event.

Several tourists, researchers and mountaineers also joined the Yoga Day celebration organized also to bring peace and harmony across the continents, the nations and the people.

This is the first time that Yoga event was organized at the Everest Base Camp at 17600 feet above the sea level.
