SC forwards citizenship case to another division bench

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to conduct hearing in a division bench on the case on whether citizenship certificate by descent could be conferred to the children of the naturalized citizen.

The full bench comprising Justices Ishwor Khatiwada, Sushmalata Mathema and Kumar Regmi on Thursday issued the order that the case will be forwarded to another division bench comprising only two Justices for the complete hearing.

Senior advocate Borna Bahadur Karki had filed a writ petition demanding the SC to scrap Home Ministry’s circular on conferring citizenship by descent to the children of those holding naturalized citizenship.
