Sarah Khumalo becomes first black African woman to summit Everest



KATHMANDU: Saray Khumalo has become the first black African to summit Mount Everest. Khumalo of South Africa reached the top of the world’s highest mountain at 9 am on Thursday morning.

The Summits with Purpose Facebook page says: “With her birth in Zambia, Rwandan bloodline and now a South African, this sister of Africa has achieved her goal of becoming the first black woman from Africa to summit Mount Everest.”

The post says that Khumalo summited Mt Kilimanjaro in 2012, raising funds for the Lunchbox Fund.
