Breakthrough in Bheri-Babai tunnel construction

SURKHET: A breakthrough has been made in the construction of the tunnel of the Bheri Babai Multipurpose Diversion Project (BBDMP) in presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday.

The tunnel construction works were undertaken with the help of a tunnel boring machine by the Chinese-based company China Engineering Overseas Group Co Ltd (COVEC) for the first time in Nepal. It completed the works before a year of the deadline.

The works had begun in mid-November 2017. The tunnel starts from Hattikhal, the bank of Babai River and ends at Chiple, the bank of Bheri River.
