Nepal to conduct rhino census next year



KATHMANDU: The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation is conducting the fresh rhino census on March 14, 2020.

The fresh census of rhinos in Nepal, which was earlier planned for this year, is being conducted after five years.

Deputy Director at the Department Ram Chandra Kandel informed that they complete the census within one month.

Out of the estimated cost of Rs 15 million, the government has allocated Rs 11 million to the Department while other organizations would contribute the rest, according to Kandel.

He said that around 400 human personnel and some 60 elephants will be mobilized for carrying out the census.
