KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav today said that the government would not allow the private sector to trade salt since it is people’s basic necessity.
Allowing the private sector to sell salt could increase its cost, he said.
Speaking at a program in Kathmandu, Yadav dismissed reports that the government was making preparations to allow the private sector to trade salt.
On the occasion Minister Yadav also hinted at the possibility of government operating fair price shops throughout the year.
