KATHMANDU: Noted literary figure Madan Mani Dixit has passed away today. He was 97. Dixit was hospitalized treatment at Sumeru Hospital in Lalitpur last week after he complained of respiratory problems.
He was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. He was rushed to Himal Hospital in Putalisadak after he fainted at his own residence while going to washroom. The doctors of the hospital pronounced him dead. He was suffering from heart, kidney and respiratory complications.
Dixit holds eminent position in the field of Nepali literature with his 46 literary creations to his credit. ‘Madhavi’, ‘Rigveda” Kehi Pramukh Sukti’ and ‘Gas Chamberko Mrityu’ are some of his acclaimed creations. He had received several prominent awards and honors, including Madan Puruskar, Sajha Puruskar and Padmashree Puruskar for his outstanding contributions to the Nepali literary world. He also has special contributions to the Nepali journalism sector.
Born in Gairidhara, Kathmandu on Falgun 6, 1979, Dixit is survived by a spouse, three sons and a daughter. Dixit’s mortal body will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat today, according to his grandson Awani Dixit.
