Met office says monsoon to remain active for some more days

KATHMANDU: Monsoon will continue to remain active for some more days in the country, as the low-pressure area still remains in the Tarai, said the Metrological Forecasting Division.

The low-pressure area may start advancing towards India from coming Wednesday, thus weakening monsoon comparatively, said meteorologist Ganga Nagarkoti.

Today there is a possibility of heavy rain in eastern, mid and western parts of the country, said the Division asking the people to stay alert as flooded rivers may rage anytime flooding downstream settlements.

There may be obstruction of air and road transportation as well due to rains and low visibility, it said. Likewise, it has also sounded caution as the water level in major rivers like Rapti, Babai, Karnali and Mahakali can increase and the water level in the Kulekhani Hydropower Project reservoir has reached the limit level.
