Kathmandu records year’s hottest day

KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley witnessed the highest temperatures of the year in the last couple of days.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the Valley’s maximum temperature on Friday was measured at 33.5 degree Celsius and the minimum was measured at 19 degree Celsius.

On Saturday, mercury hit 33 degree Celsius while the minimum rose to 19.4 degree Celsius.

Meteorologist Ganga Nagarkoti said temperatures have increased as no exterior atmospheric system has entered here since few days and local cloud has not been well developed.

The Valley’s weather will be similar for the next two days.

Monsoon is expected to become active gradually from the eastern region in few days, normalizing the situation.

Saturday’s maximum temperature in Dipayal was measured at 43 degree Celsius followed by 42 degree Celsius in Dhangadhi and 39 degree Celsius in Dang.

Meanwhile, thundershowers have been forecast for the next three days at some places in the eastern and central regions and in few places of the western region.
