Shekhar Koirala demands withdrawal of Guthi Bill

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has demanded to withdraw the much-debated Guthi Bill as it ‘contradicts with the constitution’.

He warned of a strong retaliation from parliament and streets if the government passes the bill forcefully.

Speaking at a concluding ceremony of National Awareness Campaign of the party in Kavre, the NC leader said the government will have to pay the price it fails to withdraw Guthi and Media Council Bills.

He was of the opinion that the Communist government attacked religion, culture and people’s faith by bringing the Guthi bill without any consultations.
