Private schools to remain closed on Sunday for mourning Gurung’s death



KATHMANDU: Private and Boarding Schools Organization (PABSON) and National Private and Boarding School Association of Nepal (NPABSON)  have announced closure of all private schools in the capital on Sunday to mourn the death of Bal Kumar Gurung.

Gurung, the principal of Kantipur Academy, Jorpati, who was hospitalized at Nakhkhau-based Nepal Medicity Hospital after he complained of headache and nausea, passed away in course of treatment on June 13.  Gurung died after his treatment for brain hemorrhage did not succeed, said his family sources.

His final rites is being performed at Pashupati Aryaghat at 1 pm today as per Hindu rituals. Gurung’s body had been kept at the hall of Tamu Bauddha Sewa Samiti, Anamnagar from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning for condolence. President of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand, Central Member Sita Gurung among others had paid tribute to late Gurung.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
