Alabama Senate bans all abortions

ALABAMA: Alabama’s state Senate has passed a bill to outlaw almost all abortions, media reports have said.

The abortion bill, which was earlier approved by the Alabama House of Representatives, will now go to Republican Governor Kay Ivey.

Kay has withheld comment on whether she would sign.

The law, passed by 25-6, would take effect six months after being signed by the governor. However, reports said the law could face a legal challenge from the American Civil Liberties Union as well as other groups. (Agencies)
