KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has accused the government of registering some bills in the parliament, which it claimed are against the constitutional provisions.
The main opposition party, NC, has demanded the immediate removal of such bills.
A meeting of the NC parliamentary party held on Wednesday said that the bill to amend and integrate laws relating to the Nepal Media Council was a violation of the principle of press freedom as the bill intends to suppress freedom of the press.
Party chief whip Balkrishna Khand stated that even though it was the government’s responsibility to follow and protect the country’s fundamental law, it has come up with bills that are inconsistent with the constitution.
He said that the bill to revise the ‘National Human Rights Act- 2068 BS’ will jeopardize the constitutional supremacy.
Accusing the government of moving towards dictatorship, Khand said that the Nepali Congress would continue its struggle against dictatorship.
