Editor Giri released



KATHMANDU: Arjun Giri, editor of Tandav Weekly, published from Pokhara has been released on a general date.

Giri was released on a general date till 10 am on Tuesday, according to Press Council Nepal Acting Chairman Kishor Shrestha.

Shrestha said the editor was released following initiation by the Council, adding that an understating has been reached to settle the case.

Kaski Police had arrested Giri on the basis of a complaint filed by Bipendra Raj Batas of Batas Company at the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police.

Giri had last week published a report about a dupery case by Batas.

Earlier today, the  Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), an umbrella organization of Nepali journalists, had issued a statement seeking Giri’s release at the earliest reminding the authorities of the provision of lodging a complaint at the Press Council Nepal.
