Three women set out on a mission to conquer Everest

KATHMANDU: Three women from Nepal, India and China have left for a mission to conquer Mount Everest for the first time in the history of Everest Expedition.

Kanchhi Maya Tamang from Nepal, Kalpana Dash from India and Liyamu Ma from China have left for the expedition.

They will be conquering the world’s tallest mountain this spring climbing season with an objective of empowering women in the region and spreading the message of universal peace and friendship.

This expedition will be guided by world-renowned mountaineer Pemba Dorje Sherpa, who has successfully climbed Mt. Everest 18 times as a leader and is a climber with 6 Guinness world records. He was also the Goodwill Ambassador of Nepal Tourism Year 2011.

The team has been supported by Visit Nepal Year 2020 to achieve their goal. They will be hosting the VNY 2020 flag with a signature of PM KP Sharma Oli which they will hoist on the top of the mountain.

It is expected that the expedition will send out a message that ‘women are capable of doing adventure activities and inspire other women to come to Nepal for adventure activities’.
