Bhaktapur welcomes spring with Sindoor Jatra Festival (in pics)



KATHMANDU: The locals in Madhyapur Thimi, Bhaktapur celebrated the Sindoor Jatra Festival on Monday to welcome the spring and the New Year by throwing vermilion powder over each other.

During the festival, devotees take out a procession of 32 chariots containing the idols of several gods and goddesses. They smear each other with Sindoor and sing and dance during the procession.
