Nepal’s first National ID card holder passes away



PHIDIM: Bhagawati Devi Bhandari, 102, the first national identity card holder, of Shantipur of Phidim Municipality-4 in Ilam district, has passed away.

Bhandari was suffering from asthma. She is survived by her two sons and a daughter.

The distribution of the national ID card had kicked off in the country by handing over her the card by Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa amidst a program on November 19, 2018.

Similarly, the collection of biological and other personal details of Nepali citizens had started by collecting the details of Bhandari in June last year.

The government has set the target to distribute the national ID card to 110,000 people in Paanchthar and 7,000 government employees in Singha Durbar.
