Nepal becomes winter wonderland with snowfall in several high-hill areas (in pics)



KATHMANDU: The mountains which were seen with rocks since long are now turned to be snow-capped.
However, normal life has been badly affected due to a sharp decline in temperature.

Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga recorded heavy snowfall and hill stations like Thade and Patale Bazar are also covered in a thick white blanket of snow.

Similarly, districts like Rukum, Manang, Mustang, Jumla, Bajura, Humla, Ilam, and Taplejung witness the heaviest snowfall since Thursday. Similarly, Chandragiri and Phulchoki of Kathmandu and Kalinchowk of Dolakha have covered with snowfall.

Snowfall occurred in high-hill areas from the west to east regions of the country. Snowfall has covered the areas of Hirchheda (Patihalne), Rigal, Tilochan, Nogopo, Chauri, Rajyu, Panchase, Kankri Siddagufa, and Boppelek among others of Rukum (east) district. Also snowcapped are the areas including Sisne rural municipality-1, Thulosisne, upper areas of Pwang settlement in ward-2 and upper area of Dading.

The westerly wind has caused rain and snowfall in most parts of the country on Friday.

This is the early snowfall in highlands ever experienced in the last eight years in the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
