Gas cylinder blast kills 12 in India



LUCKNOW: As many as 10 people were killed when a cooking gas cylinder exploded in a house in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, Indian authorities have said.

The blast collapsed the two-story building in Mau district of the state on Monday.

Rescue efforts have been ongoing. Authorities, however, fear more people could be trapped in the debris, Indian media reports have said.

According to neighbors, a loud explosion was heard adding that the building was engulfed in fire soon after.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an inquiry into the incident. (Agencies)
