Landslide blocks Sanfe-Martadi road

MARTADI: The Sanfe- Martadi road, an access route to the district headquarters Martadi in Bajura district, has been blocked by a landslide since this afternoon.

The landslide occurred this morning at Amkot of Budhiganga municipality-1 after the incessant rainfall since Friday night closed the route, said Officiating Deputy Superintendent of Police Janak Raj Dhungana.

The route was hit by a landslide on Friday as well, but the landslide debris was removed with the help of a machine this morning to resume the traffic. But, another landslide in the noon halted the traffic.

“It seems not possible to restore the route as the landslip continues and it is above a normal range,” Chief District Officer, Ganga Prasad Neupane said. Probably, works to clear off the debris would begin Sunday, he said.

The roadway coming to frequent halts due to landslides has been a means of overcharging passengers by transport entrepreneurs, citing adversities in the service operation.

As transport entrepreneur Prithvi Rawal said both long and short routes traffic services have been affected by the landslide.
