East West Highway disrupted after Arungkhola bridge breaks down

NAWALPARASI: East West Highway has been disrupted after the bridge over the Arungkhola river broke down on Wednesday morning.

The bridge, which is based in Madhyabindu Municipality broke down after a truck rammed it at 4 am today, said Police Inspector Rajendra Adhikari of District Police Office, Nawalparasi.

The bridge caved in for around two meters down at one point after it was struck by the truck with the registration no Na 6 Kha 471. The truck has also been stuck in the bridge. Preparations are underway to pull over the truck, said Adhikari.

The passengers heading to east and west have been hit after the bridge broke down.
