Update: Death toll from monsoon mayhem reaches 60



KATHMANDU: At least 60 persons have been killed as monsoon-induced landslides and floods wreak havoc in different parts of the country. According to the Nepal Police, 38 persons have been injured while the whereabouts of 26 persons is still unknown.

Similarly, As per the latest record maintained by the Nepal Police 1444 persons have been successfully rescued.

As per the latest record maintained by the ministry, 21 persons were killed in State 3 with five killed in Lalitpur, three each in Kathmandu, Kavre, Makwanpur and Sindhuli, two in Dhading and one each in Ramechhap and Chitwan.

Likewise, floods and landslides claimed 17 lives in State 1. Five persons were killed in Bhopjpur, four in Okhaldhunga, three in Khotang, two in Jhapa and one each in Ilam, Udayapur and Sunsari.

Similarly, eight persons were killed in State 2 with two each in Bara and Dhanusa and one each in Parsa, Rautahat, Mahottari and Siraha. Moreover, one person each died in Dang and Palpa of State 5 and two others in Dolpa of Karnali State.

As per the latest record, nine persons are missing in State 3, ten in State 1, five in State 2 and 7 in Karnali State. Some 1,104 hit by landslides and floods have been rescued.
