Tremor with 7.3 magnitude strikes Indonesia



JAKARTA: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3 hit the Moluccas in the eastern area of Indonesia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 km at an area 168 km south-southeast of Ternate, it said.

Indonesia’s meteorology agency has, however, ruled out the possibility of tsunami potential. Meanwhile, a 5.8 magnitude aftershock followed some 30 minutes after the earthquake. No immediate damages or casualties in the earthquake. (Agencies)
