A mindset of a political broker to buy power

Nepali politics, at present, is staging a farce playing the alleged unity between the two erstwhile communist parties – CPN Maoists and the CPN-UML. The script of this political farce has popular viewership entertained and horrified by sudden twists and turns of events propelling one to rise up in party position and to wriggle out a foreign conspiracy in order to gain more political power. Whenever Pushpa Kamal Dahal is in New Delhi or someone reminds him of his past ‘sins’ during the long 10 years of Maoists rebellion, he has no other way to douse the political heat except to say ‘it is my turn now to run the government, let us run the government turn by turn’. Dahal’s utterance of political jargon ‘turn by turn’ tune in the political bandwidth of Bamdev Gautam and Madhav Kumar Nepal to energize them so much that they begin to shout aloud, ‘yes, go for one man, one post’. Oh! Not to forget K.P.Oli here, he busies himself in sweet-talk of ‘Indo-Pacific’ to go forward in the business of politics.

This time too, the UML-Maoist group is no more useful for the future political purpose of Nepal — this big political force is once again ordained to be ‘mouse’ in Nepali politics – “May you again become a mouse.”

Two groups are slugging it out, one holding on to chair — a symbol of political power and the other attempting to be seated on it. It is a political tug of war in which imagined umpire oversees the rules of the game and decides upon political points to seat (or/and unseat) the political players in Nepal. That umpire in Nepali politics is called ‘foreign hands’ and ‘agents of foreign powers’. Remember the modus operandi of the game when Nepali Congress was split into two factions and anti-Nepal politics was validated by streamlining Maoists. It all happened to spur privatization in Nepal and to sell Nepal’s economy to the outside world. This time too, the UML-Maoist group is no more useful for the future political purpose of Nepal — this big political force is once again ordained to be ‘mouse’ in Nepali politics – “May you again become a mouse.”

The ongoing gang war facing the titans of the party against each other within a ruling party is unexpected, surprising and sudden. However, it is all but natural, planned and quite expected turn of political events for the power-brokers in Nepali politics; it perfectly shows the nature of Nepali politics and falls in line with the projected foreign design. It has been planned in advance who will upstage whom and all the political characters play their role according to the set script of political drama.

Not so now, particularly when the implementation of the new Constitution of Nepal is in full run. Maoists shook hands with CPN-UML and that was a comparatively bigger political stage set for foreign power handlers.

Nepali history is witness to this fact. Come 2047 BS, Nepali Congress decided to open Nepal’s economy for rest of the world in pursuance of the policy of economic liberalization followed by WTO (World Trade Organization). Nepali Congress never stayed united after that and was reduced in its political strength after facing a split and defection. During the time period of weakened Nepali Congress, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai emerged as shining political stars on the horizon of Nepali politics. They steered the people’s war politically designed by foreign political architects. Both of them were relevant political players until the ‘Interim Constitution’ was in force. After the new constitution of Nepal was adopted on September 20, 2015, the duo was done with their political relevance and utility. Their political party was reduced into several gangs fighting in streets of Nepal and they began to voice the political motto hardly impinging on Nepal’s future course of political stability and prosperity. Some of them merged with the UML and some others stood by the side of Madhesi political forces.

Well, now it is the turn for Pushpa Kamal Dahal to be in the driver’s seat, K.P. Oli will take rest and the gang of newly formed Socialist Party of Nepal led by Upendra-Baburam combination will keep the political sky open for foreign political players to fly high.

The CPN-UML was the only political force in Nepal, which was not used as a pawn by agents of foreign political powers. Not so now, particularly when the implementation of the new Constitution of Nepal is in full run. Maoists shook hands with CPN-UML and that was a comparatively bigger political stage set for foreign power handlers. Prime Minister K. P. Oli was taken on to successfully conduct the conference of ‘Holy Wine’ and work out the compromise formula with C. K. Raut besides bringing the present Government of Nepal on board of Indo-Pacific Strategy led by the United States. K. P. Oli is assigned one more task that is related to the amendment of the existing Citizenship Act. There is no higher expectation from the present Prime Minister other than this for appeasing foreign political masters. The present ruling party is playing well the scripted role of foreign political masters of course not worse than erstwhile Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai if not better. Well, now it is the turn for Pushpa Kamal Dahal to be in the driver’s seat, K.P. Oli will take rest and the gang of newly formed Socialist Party of Nepal led by Upendra-Baburam combination will keep the political sky open for foreign political players to fly high.

At present, Nepali power brokers are busy negotiating with their foreign masters. One is asked to visit New Delhi and directed to speak ‘……turn by turn’ while other runs to Washington to speak ‘Indo-Pacific’. If they refuse to follow what comes from the foreign soils, they will face the consequences of their past political sins in Hague — International Criminal Court or be framed in past corruption cases by unleashing a corruption watchdog (– CIAA on them). They will get the reward if they don’t rebel. Otherwise, in no time their political party will be reduced down to a street gang divested of all the dignity of a political leader and being a legal political party. Genuine national issues such as national sovereignty, territorial integrity, economic development, entrepreneurship opportunity to returnees from foreign employment have taken a backseat, thanks to these foreign power brokers operating here as Nepali politicians. They are all on their knees barking when directed by their foreign masters, spit when told to then lick the same with no disgust if their foreign masters so desire. And in doing they have no shame because their business of politics will abruptly end when their foreign ‘bosses’ get angry.
