A constitutional bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR quashed the petition.

Advocate Bharat Kumar Basnet on February 18, 2018, had moved the apex court demanding to halt the implementation of embossed number plates.

A single bench of the then Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli on February 22, 2018, has stayed the implementation of the embossed plate number system and had asked the government to furnish a written clarification.

With the court’s decision, the process of installing embossed number plates will start soon, according to an official at the Department of Transport Management.
