Prez Bhandari meets Bangladeshi President Hamid

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari and her Bangladeshi counterpart Md Abdul Hamid held a meeting at the President’s Office, Shital Niwas, on Wednesday afternoon.

The discussion was held on issues of bilateral interest and various aspects of bilateral relations between the two countries.

On the occasion, President Bhandari, on behalf of Nepali people, Nepal government and on her own, thanked Bangladeshi President Hamid for the visit.

The Nepal-Bangladesh relations have reached the people’s level and Hamid’s visit further expanded the relations, she said.

The visiting President Hamid expressed happiness for the opportunity of Nepal visit and reminded that then political leadership had moral support to Bangladesh on its independence movement.

Nepal was the seventh country to recognize Bangladesh as an independent country, he said, adding that Nepal and Bangladesh have warm and intimate relations. The exchange of high-level visits, he said, would further expand the two-country relations.

Also present on the occasion were Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management Raghubir Mahaseth, the Secretary at President’s Office and Officials from Foreign Ministry.
