Protest against China intensifies in Nepal



KATHMANDU: Protests have been held in different parts of the country including the Federal Capital City against the encroachment of Nepali land by China.

In a protest staged in Kavilbastu, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s effigy was burnt for encroaching upon a chunk of Nepal’s land. The protestors hit the streets of Kapilvastu district chanting slogans against China.

The protestors held play-cards, banners and chanted slogans such as “Go back China and Return Nepali land” during the protests.

Meanwhile, a protest was held at Thamel in Kathmandu against China. Youths associated with Freedom People Society hit the street against land encroachment by China and businesses controlled by Chinese.

They protested carrying a banner calling for illegal Chinese to return to their home. They took out the protest rally accusing the Chinese businessmen of not paying taxes, not-transparent investment and illegal transactions among others.


The protest comes after a survey report recently released by the Survey Department stated that China has encroached upon 36 hectare land of Nepal.
