Nepal-Kuwait 2022 World Cup qualifier fixture to be played in Bhutan

KATHMANDU: The Asian Football Confederation has approved a proposal by the All-Nepal Football Association for their 2022 World Cup qualifier fixture against Kuwait to be held in Bhutan on November 19.

The ANFA was forced to find a neutral venue after failing to get approval from the AFC to use their Dasharath Stadium- which is still under renovation following an earthquake in 2015- for the fixture.

The ANFA said: “The AFC on Monday approved Changlimithang Stadium as the neutral venue for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers/ Preliminary Round II match between Nepal and Kuwait on November 19. The ANFA and Bhutan Football Federation have made an agreement to arrange all logistic matters for the match.”

Nepal is the host of the upcoming South Asian Games that begins on December 1, and the Dasharath Stadium has been earmarked as one of the main stadiums to host events during the Games.
